FCSNP was established in 1997 to humanely control the feral cat population in the Puget Sound area by providing free spay and neuter surgery for free-roaming cats.
1997
Spay/Neuter project Formed. Clinic held monthly. 160 cats altered.
1998
792 cats altered.
1999
890 cats altered.
2000
Monthly clinics limited to 100 cats. 1,019 cats altered.
2001
Veterinarians begin receiving compensation. Reservations limited to 15 per person per month. 1,099 cats altered. |
2002
Part-time Executive Director hired. Search for a free-standing clinic begins. 1,605 cats altered
2003
First free-standing clinic established for free-roaming cats. Weekly spay/neuter clinics begin. Development Committee formed. 2,048 cats altered.
2004
Feral cat prevention services offered. 5,432 cats altered. |
2005
Clinic Director and Full-time Veterinary Assistant hired. full-time Executive Director hired. 7,718 cats altered.
2006
PetSmart Charities awards grant to FCSNP for national mentoring website. Full-time Veterinarian hired. Third year in a row FCSNP alters more cats than any other orgrnization in Washington state. 8,235 cats altered.

Today the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project offers surgery 4 days per week year round and plans to increase to 5 days per week during the peak of kitten season. They continue Feral Cat Prevention along with free surgery for free-roaming cats from at least 13 counties in Washington State.
